On Tuesday morning Greg, Andi and McKayla were forced to move the camper they inhabit to 13th and Folsom due to San Francisco city regulations that prohibit vandwelling. The three of them have been living in a camper for the past two weeks because the increase in housing prices has made it impossible for them to afford rent anywhere else. Greg, Andi and McKayla, three ex-felons who are addicted to heroin, believe that living in the camper is the only way they can continue living within the San Francisco city limits. "Being a drug addict, San Francisco is the only option for us," Andi said. "The availability of clean needles and supplies, and the leniency the police give to addicts means there is no where else I would rather go. With its Salvation Army, it also provides the best opportunity for us to get sober."

Andi cleans out their camper, which is currently parked under a highway and surrounded by larger recreational vehicles and vans. "I'm so happy we found this because you honestly can't beat the rent here," Greg said. "I just can't believe it," Andi said. "

McKayla peers outside as the cops write citations to the homeless people in the area. Greg said that the cops won't kick them off of their current street unless they are outside of their camper. "This shit will happen again next week and once again it'll be on to the next place," Greg said.

Andi helps Greg shoot heroin into his neck. Almost all of Greg's other veins have collapsed as a result of repeated injection. "I guess once this one collapses, I will have to get sober," Greg said.

Andi said that they need to remain inside when they're shooting heroin because enclosed spaces provide some protection from local police. "Although it's not a lot of space this camper is as good as any place for shooting up," Andi said. "I mean I can either pay $200 a week to live in a hotel the size of a shoebox and shoot up or pay nothing to live in this shoebox and shoot up. It's an easy choice."

Greg holds a needle in his mouth as Andi prepares the drugs. Every morning Greg and Andi shoot heroin together to avoid the physical pain that accompanies skipping the drug while they sleep. Although Andi had been a meth addict before she met Greg, she had only tried heroin once. Greg reintroduced Andi to the drug, which she says is her favorite. It's such a euphoric feeling," Andi said. "There's nothing like it."

McKayala reacts with paranoia and fear as a homeless man is forced to leave the area after a confrontation with the police. 

McKayala and Andi work to clean up the camper, which had become extremely messy after the police had forced them to move. "I don't understand why the camper isn't okay on the street," Andi said. "The police know very well that we can't afford any other options."

After getting high together, Greg and Andi spend the morning relaxing in bed. "I believe he is my soul mate," Andi said. "With him, I'm literally living a fairy tale. It's like what you see in the movies."
